Playstation 4 To Be Backwardly Compatible?

A recent job posting from Sony Computer Entertainment Japan suggests that the development of the Playstation 4 console has progressed more than we anticipated. The vacant position requires the engineer to implement and optimise emulation software for PS1, PS2, PSP and PS3 games on all formats.

It’s quite surprising that the PS4 development has reached the point where Sony can now start to think about the specific software structure, for example system emulation and backwards compatability.

  1. that would be amazing. when i got my ps3 the sales clerk told me it was backwards compatible. i was so excited i sold my ps2. got home hooked it up and was left with my jaw agape. it wasn’t backwards compatible, but i payed for the backwards compatible one. so this will make all the difference. FUCK U BEST BUY!

  2. u have to download the backwards compatability from the PSN dude. PS2 System data.

  3. the ps3 its self has to be backwards compatible, the system data only fixes the lags and freezing of the ps2 games on backwards compatible ps3′s
