First Real Playstation 4 Details?
Could this Japanese translation be the first real information on the technical specs of the Playstation 4 console?
Japanese news site PC Watch is reporting that Sony “has begun seriously considering” basing the upcoming PlayStation 4 console on the same Cell processor that currently powers the Playstation 3.
Here’s what’s been revealed in the article:
Goto Hiroshige has received PSX4 spec info from Japanese developer sources who received preliminary spec from SCEI for developer feedback(whom Goto refuses to name due to NDA).
SCEI has sent rough PSX4 spec to 3rd party developers for feed back. Based on the description, PSX4 is a Wii-tized PSX3, no more than 2X as powerful.
SCEI wants to beat Xbox 3 to launch. 2011 is the deadline, or sooner.
SCEI pulled all its engineers from IBM Texas, and there is no new CELL architecture being developed. PSX4 will use same CELL architecture with improvements.
SCEI will dump XDR and use standard JEDEC memory type(GDDR3/DDR3) for main memory.

Do you believe the PS4 will have a GT200 or will it have a better GPU?

The Nvidia GT200 / GTX 280 will be completely obsolete, old, outdated by the time PS4 is due. It would be like expecting GeForce FX in PS3.
PS3’s RSX = NV47 variant
GT200 = NV55
PS4 graphics would be NV6x or NV7x variant

How many stream processors do you expect it will have? I think 386 should be enough. I believe PS3 is going to have some XDR2 RAM. Maybe it’ll have 768 MB of GDDR5 and 256 MB of XDR2.

HI,
i’am one of the developers from SONY.LTD
PS4 is a new revolution in console gaming.
it will feature a built in microphone and a motion detector’s in the controllers and High definition rendering of 3d
and yes we will be using a NVIDIA chip set
around the office I’ve been hearing roomers that the ps4 is going to be an a sphere shape.
that’s all I’m allowed to tell you
note:
Please do not pirate games it is agenst the Law
and we developers are putting so much effort into these games
but seeing them being downloaded onto the internet it just breaks our harts.if everyone started pirating
then no one would buy our games and the company’s
would have to shut down,
so support Sony and we will keep up the good work
and make new and exciting games for the
future generations to enjoy

Sphere shape? You should make it a sphere shape without a flat bottom or support base of any kind. That way it would roll around on the floor, thus preventing hours of nonmovement gameplay resulting in dust collection. Also, if you could make the controller in the shape of a bannana, I think you would generate a higher market-share in women.

last time i checked you cant really pirate ps3 games and me personally i buy used games from like amazon cause buying a game for $30 is better than $60 and also nobody cares what the PS4 looks like on the outside we only care how its gonna play the games
