Sony: We’re Not Working On The Playstation 4 – Honest!

With the Playstation 3’s lifespan claimed to be only 10 years, there’s already lots of buzz about the next console in the Playstation series – the Playstation 4.

But amidst of all this buzz and rumor the SCEE President David Reeves has responded to claims that the PS4 is currently in development.

I’m not even sure if that’s being considered, It’s certainly nothing I can talk about. I have absolutely no knowledge of it whatsoever. Not even sure it’s being planned.

But with Microsoft already putting the hype machine into overdrive with news about their next console do Sony really have time to sit around and wait? Can we expect a Playstation 4 sooner than expected?

  1. I believe PS3 games will overlap PS4 games like PS2 would PS3.

  2. They want everyone to think that they are devoting all their time, effort and resources to the PS3. If they say they’re working on a PS4 given the problems that they’ve had with the PS3, the marketplace would not like them very much.

Of course the xbox life span will likely be 5-6 years, while the PS3 will likely be going upwards of 15-20 years.

  3. Sony is waiting for xbox to release there system first and fail again and release there new system when the time is right. Trust me xbox will not be doing so well after the slim line release of ps3. Pretty soon microsoft will pull the plug and make there new system to compete with the slim line.

  4. honest i dont think there is any thing else for the playstation buisness or the x bow buisness not inless they can make a holographic game then that would be new compatetion

  5. Sony had issues releasing the Ps3, due to costs ect. But waiting a bit, and having a good look on the system itself, its much more stable than 360, got a sleeker look and have some really nifty tools. Ps4 would definitly take some time to produce. Think of this, id rather pay thru my ears for something decent, that has a LOt of power, more than a very fast computer, putting a lid on the pc fans stating ooh yea our games are better looking, can handle much more and its instant, rather than to have a new ps4, slightly higher specs and future games looks the same. #d games with sterioscopic lenses would be great if they can incorporate this into games, as an option for future developers. We really dont need another wireless Wii gadget.
Think of it, most pc gamers would love to have a playstation, but dont like the controller aspect so much. Why not give then the option to actually play with a mouse and keyboard if they would want to use that then. Think of it, more people crossing over to ps network, more money for them. Maybe for the ps4, a bigger or different controller (more elegant)

Lastly, playing games with your friends, its always a drag to play on split screen. Why not give the option to connect 2 screens to your system, so when yo udo play multiplayer, you can have each player on a different screen. This would be a mjor breakthrough. Looking forward to see what would be coming up on the following playstation machine.

  6. Problems the only problem Ive ever had with a ps3 is it froze and that was my fault for playing it so much PS3 is old news now why would they put effort into the system id rather Sony be building a new system to make everyone gaming experience enjoyable that’s like playing ps2 games on a ps3 if they build the new system and devote time and make it backwards compatible with ps3 discs you’d have a lot of happy people. Other then the 1005080f bug i have nothing bad to say about Sony. x box is a different story i will not even start
