“The PlayStation 4 and Xbox ‘720′ will arrive in 2011 or 2012, we think,” said Yerli. “But this is just our estimate – we don’t know, and even if Microsoft and Sony told us, I couldn’t say because it would be under NDA.

“But we think in three to four years’ time, although there are good reasons why it should be 2010 already…but we’ll see.”

The vacant position requires the engineer to implement and optimise emulation software for PS1, PS2, PSP and PS3 games on all formats.

It’s quite surprising that the PS4 development has reached the point where Sony can now start to think about the specific software structure, for example system emulation and backwards compatability.

So what do we know so far about the Playstation 4? Here’s a brief bullet point list of some rumors and ideas that have come to light over the past few months:

  1. The PS4 Will be realeased in 2010
  2. The PS4 will not include a dvd/blu-ray drive and will instead be 100% dependent on software and gaming downloads through the Playstation Network.

Yeah, we don’t know a right lot at the moment do we? Anyway don’t worry guys that’ll surely change in the near future :)
